I was making dinner the other night and managed to knock the lid off my pepper grinder. Yes, I emptied the entire grinder of peppercorns into the bolognaise sauce. Not wanting to waste the entire dish, I started the painstaking process of picking them out. It got me thinking that getting the right balance in both cooking and business has some similarities.
When either your cooking, or your team of employees has too much spice and heat, the entire mix is unpalatable. The right balance, however, can be good for everyone. There’s no doubt that fixing my botched dinner took a lot of time and patience. This is something you may also need when correcting the balance of personalities, skills and experience in your business. But, it just might take something completely unpalatable and turn it into an enjoyable mix with just the right amount of spice!
